After long incursions in the audiovisual world creating video art pieces, fictional work and musical videos for local bands such as ‘Vacabou’ or
‘Diablo en el Ojo’, Fulgencio Coll has returned to his origin.  He is now back on the canvas – back to painting, with a new approach, mature and serene. His new pieces have a very personal touch and inevitably fuse creating a fan of possibilities for his paintings.

Only seven months ago he changed London for Palma, and during this period he has achieved his most representative work.  With more than fifty paintings, in large format, his work seems to have been created by a collective and not an individual.  He follows no styles or specific techniques, his work is polysemic and even though some may seem shallow, the true meaning and feel is deeper than what the simple eye can see.

Fulgencio Coll chooses to show us an intentional and voluntary lack of personal style, and with this he does not, in anyway compromise his work.
“I firmly believe in the necessity to frequently change media, to use new tools in order to grow, to not repeat the way you express. I don’t feel that this “return” is a step back, that I am looking for something that I failed to find, and of course this does not mean that I am tired of working with video. This comeback is for me a new search, a new work of analysis based on the still image, on the functionality and meaning of a painting, the language of paint. I want to eliminate the concept of artist, this limited and recognizable vision- only then I can give priority to the actual act of creating, the facts, and the truth about how confusing it is to find personal realization.”
