Margarita Casado “The Legend of the Fighting Bull” > Originally from the city of Burgos, this artist showed an early interest in painting by starting drawing at the School of Arts. At 11 years, the youngest age allowed to join contests, she won her first award for oil painting. At 16 she moved to Madrid and became involved in the world of art, with her first successful exhibition in Santa Maria del Campo at age 21. In time, changes in her family life did not allow her to continue 100% in this art world but she never moved away from it completely. She became a resident of Palma in 2003, finding a new stage for evolving with her artist’s brush and involving herself again in the Arts. She decided to create a new series of paintings under the theme “The Fighting Bull”. Despite the existing controversy on the Bullfighting Fiesta, she has great passion and interest in showing the world how the “Fighting Bull” plays an important part in Spanish tradition and culture. When painting these bulls, Margarita revived a world of inner sensations. She experienced its might, tactile sensations and felt great respect in front of the colossus. She feels we all have an obligation toward its preservation and to understand the inner meaning for Spanish tradition. She believes that the extinction of this “monument” would be unthinkable. The message is clear and significant, the artist wants, through this art series, to transmit the emotions and feelings that awoken in her during their creation to those that view them.
